The Aquaculture & Natural Resources (A&NR) Program at Northern Marianas College's Cooperative Research, Extension, & Education Service (NMC CREES) is the division responsible for the development of aquaculture in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI). A&NR is unique within CREES, in that by virtue of CNMI Public Law 15-43, it is also the designated government lead agency for aquaculture development in the territory. As such, A&NR is responsible for conducting research and providing technical assistance to individuals or groups interested in starting an aquaculture enterprise. The program has successfully helped introduced and established Tilapia, shrimp, and aquaponics farms in the past and is currently working on marine finfish research to develop this sector focused on captive breeding and production of Rabbitfish juveniles for distribution to aquaculture producers.
